He was predeceased by: his parents, Charley Counts and Jannie Chronister Counts; and his siblings, Harvey, John, Willie Counts, Frances Bland and Christine Honeycutt.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Brawley Counts; his sons, Matthew and Michael Counts; and his siblings, Monroe Counts, Batty Winters, Kathy Bettis and Minnie Mayberry. He is also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
