He was predeceased by: his father Dudley Whitfield; his wife Clara Smart (Dodson); his son Scotty Wayne Smart; and his brother Jim Smart. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Haagon Lister (Kristy) of Joaquin, Tommy Hogg of Walker Creek, Tiffany Ely of Taylor, Sammanth Ripley (Tice) of Roanoke and Kerri Holland (Josh) of Walker Creek; his great grandchildren, Chloe Lister, Jackson Lister, Julia Lister, Mikalah Ely, Harley Lister, Evan Ripley, Chloee Holland and Jordan Holland; and his brothers, A. W. Smart of Homer and Dudley Smart, Jr. of Minden, Louisiana. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
