She was predeceased by: her parents, Scipio Dread and Mary Elizabeth Mixon Dread; her daughter Nattline Claiborne; and her sister Bernice Smith. She is survived by: her children, Samuel Brown, Charles Brown, Ozunder Brown, Connie Dread, Loretta Wheeler and Cherie Brown; and her brother Robert "Doc" Dread. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren.
