He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Paul Berry Sr. and Gerta Mae Kingsby-Berry; his brother Luther Ray Harris; his grandmother Odie Berry; his great-aunt Roxie Ellis; his stepdaughter Venesshia Johnson; his wife Florene Thomas-Berry of Waldo, Arkansas; his son James Edward Berry Jr. (Porchia) of Magnolia; his stepson Hendrick Johnson of Eldorado, Arkansas; his godson Lonnie Whitaker of Liberal; his stepdaughter Kellie Young (Kendall); his daughters, Tarah Sanders of Madison and Nickia Sanders of Houston; and his siblings, John Paul Berry of Garden and Luetta Watson of Los Angeles. He was also cherished by 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, anyone attending the graveside services, "MUST WEAR A MASK.".
