He was predeceased by: his parents, Donovan Duvon Sowders and Alma Melinda Bartles Sowders; his wife Mary Dean Parrish; and his sons, Charles Donovan "Chuck" Sowders and David Ray Sowders.
He is survived by: his children, Suzy Sowders Love of Magnet Cove and James Michael Sowders of Magnet Cove; his sister Dorothy Louise Nelson of Edmond, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Eric Sowders, Louanne Sowders, Marc Ham and David Ham; and his great grandchildren, Lucky, Ayanna, Mia, Teagan, Timmy, Daegklen, Olivia, Sophia, Sunny, Meadow, Marc and Eric. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
