He was predeceased by: his parents, Ulus Kester and Beatrice Kester; his wife Gloria (Jeremy); and his siblings-in-law, Frances Wallis and Jackie Creekmore.

He is survived by: his son Jeremy Kester (Patricia); his grandchildren, Maverick, Irelynn and Elynn Kester; his brothers, Mark (Rose) and Calvin Kester (Valerie); his siblings-in-law, Cynthia Ball, Faye Creekmore and Larry Wallis; and his close friend Diesel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
