He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy V. Cogdell and Ava Mozelle Hough Cogdell; his wife Sarah Scott Cogdell; his brothers, Roger Cogdell and James D. Cogdell; his stepdaughter Tammy W. Bates; his granddaughter Kaylee L. Cogdell; and his nephews, Dennis Cogdell, Bruce Cogdell and Philip Cogdell.
He is survived by: his sons, James R. Cogdell (Mona Fuller) and John T. Cogdell (Ashley Morgan); and his grandchildren, Tommy Cogdell, Steffi Cogdell Brinkman, Lana Sullivan, Chris Bates, Jr., Sara Bates, Tasha Wedgeworth, Darian Cogdell and Zane Morgan. He is also survived by 11 great-great grandchildren as well as many extended family members and friends.
