He was predeceased by: his wife Bobbie Lee Custer McElroy; his parents, Ward Leach McElroy and Zorine Bryant McElroy; and his brother Robert McElroy. He is survived by: his sons, Lawrence (Terry) and Ron (Beth); his grandchildren, Madison (Joe), Mallory, Mariah, Hunter (Staci), Emily (Matthew) and Sophie (Keith); and his great grandchildren, Evelyn, Hayes and James.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis.
