He was predeceased by: his father Charles Arthur Townsend, Jr.; his former wife Shirley Townsend; his daughter Cynthia D'Anne; and his sister Barbara Anne Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Ann Lee Townsend; his children, Charles William Townsend (Barbie), Thomas Wayne Townsend (Denise), Joann Clark, John Wise, William Shadell and April Helms; and his siblings, Carolyn Marie Freeman and Jerry Wayne Townsend. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
