He was predeceased by: his parents, Beckham Southern and Martha Jones Southern; his sister Kathy; his parents-in-law, J. O. and Theone James; and his brothers-in-law, Judge Dennis James and Dr. Roland McArthur.

He is survived by: his wife Linda; his son Scott; his sisters, Teri (Bart Hanners) and Christi (Morris Huffstutler); and his siblings-in-law, Dr. Julia McArthur Redding (Ben), John James (Nina), Danny James (Terri) and Lindy Fair.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Byron's name to Asbury United Methodist Church, Community Bible Study and The Curtis Finch Bridge House.
