He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Eugene and Mildred Derby; his son Donald William Peterson; his granddaughter Sami Jo Derner; and his sister-in-law Theresa Derby.
He is survived by: his wife Dena Derby; his brother Chuck Derby (Linda); his children, Barry Hodges (Marlo), Tracy McLaughlin (Jason), Misti Clingan, Brett Derby, Charles Derby (Tara) and Danielle Myers; and his siblings-in-law, Ted Hayden (Pat) and Sherri Simpson (Terry). He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
