He is survived by: his wife Dolly DeJean Payton; his children, Janice Meeks and Gehrig Payton (Larissa); his siblings-in-law, Beverly Payton, Doris DeJean, Lula DeJean and Alvin DeJean (Brenda); his grandchildren, Jai Calloway (Lorenzo), Jeralyn Johnson, Erica Salmeron (Jorge), John Payton (Danielle), Taryn Garriet (Matthew) and Tyria Monroe; his great grandchildren, Payton Collins, Jy St, Alexandria Gilbert, Brianna Johnson, Gregory "Trey" Johnson III, Aria Payton, Savanna Fore, Sanaa Fore and Sophia Garriet; and his nieces and nephews, Pamela Payton, Chelsea Bennett DeJean, Charli Bennett, Shannon Hamilton (Jeanine), Tara Payton and Brandon DeJean. He is also survived by many other relatives, church members, peers, former students, and friends.
