He was predeceased by: his parents, Hermann George Jäger and Luise Emilie Buchert Jäger; his brothers, Herman and Herbert; and his son Kirk.

He is survived by: his son Jonathan (Dana Jaeger); his wife Dr. Melissa Taliaferro of Leslie; his children, Ketchen (Rich Duncan), Eric (Mary Jaeger) and Baron Crane; his grandchildren, Gary, Josie Grisham, Alexander Jaeger, Justice Jaeger, Abby Willison, Nicholas Jaeger, Christopher Jaeger, Michael Jaeger and Ocean Jaeger; his great grandchildren, Shayne Willison and Hudson Grisham; and his siblings, Helge Kern, Hartmut Jäger and Linda Pless. He is also survived by his mother and he was the youngest of six siblings.
