It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lonnie Armstrong (Lake City, Arkansas), born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, who passed away on April 10, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lon Mathews and Ludie McMurray Mathews; her husband J. Q. Armstrong Jr.; and her siblings, Dexter Mathews, Dorsey Neil Mathews, Robbie Nell Weems, Lou Donald Weems and Bethena Martin.

She is survived by: her children, Jennifer Short (Terry) of Lake City and J. Q. Armstrong III (Pat) of Spartanburg, SC; her sister Wilma Dean Pope of Diamond Head, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Mathew Short (Leigh Ann) of Caraway, Sara Creecy (Scott) of Osceola, Evan Wilkes Short (Natalie) of Cabot, J. Q. Armstrong IV (Keri) of Greer, SC, Kathryn Sorrel (Adam) of Greer, SC and Emily Armstrong (Michael Buckingham) of Spartanburg; and her great grandchildren, Dalton Short, Maleigh Short, Macie Short, Hayden Creecy, Braxton Creecy, Braelyn Creecy, Loren Short, Caleb Short and Eadie Armstrong (Martha Carter).
