He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan W. Platz and Eva Osborne Platz; and his siblings, Bob Platz, Garland Platz, Barbara Keiter, Ruby Nance, Dorothy Pearson and Marie Keiter.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Hill Platz; his children, James "Bub" Platz, Jr. (Niki) of Lunsford, Eva Towles (Scott) of Monette and Kimberly Rakestraw (Ron) of Lake City; his stepdaughters, Belinda Hensley (Donnie) of Osceola, Paula Rayburn (Larry) of Jayess, MS and Carol Ford (PJ) of Manila; and his brother Billy Platz of Caraway. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
