She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Banks and Viola Banks; her husband Dennis Powell; her siblings, Albert Banks, Robert Banks, Earl Banks and Jo Lynn Winford; and her granddaughter Karen Sweeting.
She is survived by: her sons, Richard Sweeting (Theresa), David Sweeting (Melissa) and Bobby Long Jr (Rhonda). She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
