Sophie Mae Yancey Obituary
Sophie Mae Yancey, 84, of Lafe, Arkansas passed away at St. Bernards Medical Center on February 17, 2023. She was born on May 1, 1938 in Rector, Arkansas to Lonnie Nelson and Gladys Stephens Nelson. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, gardening, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Survivors include; one son: Eugene Yancey (Candy) of Rector, Arkansas; four daughters: Gloria Brown (Mike) of Rector, Arkansas, Charlotte Derby (Terry) of Knob, Arkansas, Vanessa Howe of Rector, Arkansas, Carmen Loveless (Shane) of Knob, Arkansas; one sister: Connie Haywood of Marmaduke, Arkansas; two brothers: Donald Stephens (Christie) of West Memphis, Arkansas, Tony Nelson (Sally) of Michigan; ten grandchildren: Weldon Brown, Zack Yancey (Brandie), Zane Yancey (Havanna), Zared Yancey (Jenny), Erika Howe (Austin), Aiden Howe, Shanna Loveless, Michael Loveless (Sarah), Samantha Soloman (Michael), Lonnie Yancey; eight great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by; her parents: Lonnie Nelson and Gladys Stephens Nelson; loving husband: Alvie Yancey; one son: Terry Yancey; five brothers: Jerry, Frank, Harry, Alvin, James; two son-in-laws: Skip Smith (Charlotte), Chuck Howe (Vanessa) and one great grandchild: J.J. Solomon.
Pallbearers: Weldon Brown, Zack Yancey, Zane Yancey, Zared Yancey, Michael Loveless, Aiden Howe, and Erika Howe.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Smith Chapel in Boydsville, Arkansas at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Ernie Rinks officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service on Thursday at Parks Cemetery in Rector, Arkansas.
