She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin and Ossie Mae Howell Mitchell Sr.; her grandson Christopher Cowan; her daughters, Deborah Brown and Stephanie Cowan; and her siblings, Alvin Mitchell, Jr., Leo Mitchell Sr., Wesley Mitchell and Louise Mitchell.
She is survived by: her daughters, Flora Mae Cowan Curtis of Searcy, Dr. Larine Y. Cowan of Urbana, Evelyn Joyce Cowan of Champaign and Jeanette Cowan of Kensett; her grandchildren, James Anthony Brewer (Ronda), Paula L. Baker (Richard), Alexander Cowan, Audra Cowan, William Cowan (Danielle), James Wesley Brown (Chanell) and Lakita Cowan Watson; her sisters, Lillie Mae Mitchell and Frances Mitchell of Hot Springs; and her brother-in-law Oscar Cowan of Las Vegas. She is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.
