He was predeceased by: his wife Gloria; his son Leon; and his siblings, JB, Hosie, James, Dezell Sweet, Fannie Taylor and Mattie Franklin.
He is survived by: his children, Albert Gates and Diane. He is also survived by five grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 7th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Brown's Home For Funerals (417 Walnut St, Helena, AR 72342). A burial was held on Saturday, September 7th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the New Zion Cemetery.
