He was predeceased by: his parents, Junior Lee Byrd (Ruth Bunch Byrd) and Ruth Riggs; his siblings, Larry Byrd and Shelia Byrd; and his brother-in-law David Turner.
He is survived by: his children, Bobbie Jean Bozarth of Montgomery and Greg Simpson (Jennifer) of Cypress, Texas; his siblings, Mickey Byrd (Carol) of Jonesboro, Faye Turner of Jonesboro and Mike Byrd (Michelle) of Alvin; his granddaughter Alyssa Marie Simpson; and the mother of his children Betty June Byrd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Veterans of Foreign War or Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
