James Alfred Cole Obituary
James Alfred Cole, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away on February 27, 2024 at Belle Meade Cottages, Paragould, Arkansas. He was born on May 14, 1940 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Marvin and Ethel Cole.
James served his country in the United States Army and his community as a volunteer fire fighter. He loved camping, fishing, square dancing, and clogging. He retired from Olympus Construction after many years of employment. He was very active in the Boy Scouts as Scoutmaster and an Assistant Scoutmaster. Survivors include; his children: Gregory J. Cole (Stacy) of Chipley, Florida, Jason K. Cole (Lorie) of Tampa, Florida, Jake L. Hatley (Amanda) of Springdale, Arkansas, Lisa A. Hathcoat (Daniel) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Gena A. Cole (Craig) of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister: Bonnie S. Turner (Danny); nine grandchildren: Brandon Cole (Sylvia), Britney Dalton (TJ), Amanda Clairday (Matt), Brandi Kidd (Robbie), Kara Cole, Kyra Schmidt (Jeremy), Christian Hatley, Kaleb Hatley, and Kavi Hatley; eight great-grandchildren: Emily Cole, Gabe Cole, J.T. Dalton, Carter Bowers, Cooper Clairday, Emma Clairday, Bryden Kidd, and Paisley Kidd; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by; his wife: Linda Cole; and his parents: Marvin and Ethel Cole.
Pallbearers: Brandon Cole, TJ Dalton, Matt Clairday, Robbie Kidd, Justin Turner, and Terry Jones. Honorary Pallbearers: Danny Turner, Philadelphia Volunteer Fire Department, Boy Scout Troop #1, Jonesboro Promenaders, and Crowley Ridge Cloggers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Woods Chapel General Baptist Church with Leroy Coker officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors on Friday at the church from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
