He is survived by: his wife Linda McClure Bates of Rye; his children, Richard Jay Bates (Jennifer) of Monticello, Jana White (Ben) of Monticello and Jennifer Bates of Rye; his grandchildren, Chase (Peyton), Hannah, Brianna, Anna, Jaci, Alexis, Samuel, Mary and Ricki; and his siblings, William Keith Bates (Lynn) of Warren, Patsy Thomas (Forrest) of Pine Bluff and Lois Lytle of Monticello.
