He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben F. Summerford and Novie Robinson Summerford; his wife Nancy Ann "Hank" Summerford; his son Dale Howard Summerford; and his sister Ginger Calloway.

He is survived by: his children, Al Summerford (Kay Triplett) of Golden, Lou Ann Howard (Bill) of Little Rock and Teresa S. Willard (David) of West Monroe; his brother Charles Summerford (Martha) of Arkadelphia; and his grandchildren, Kyle Willard (Natalie), Nancy Summerford, Ben Summerford and Sarah Summerford (Eric). He is also survived by four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
