He was predeceased by: his parents, Esker Mathis and Nelly Mathis; his wife Bobbie Mathis; his siblings, Marvin Mathis, Marie Beavers, Charlene Poe, Betty Williams and Roy Mathis; and his sons, Darrell Mathis and Randolph Mathis.
He is survived by: his son Kenneth Mathis; his brother Billy Ray Mathis (Laverne); and his friend Betty McPherson. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
