He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Edwin and Toye Kathleen Rook Dearen; and his brother Dennis Dearen. He is survived by: his spouse Darlene Pickett Dearen; his children, Kimberly Witt (David) of Murfreesboro, Kathy Dearen of Imboden and Gene Dearen Jr. of Imboden; his siblings, Jackie Selph of West Memphis and Johnny Dearen of West Memphis; his grandchildren, Khara Sorenson (Jeff) of Burleson, Kristina Young (Tristan) of Annieville, Kathrine Allen of Little Rock, Ella Walzer (Bryce) of Maumelle and Eason Dearen of Jonesboro; and his great grandchildren, Kaleb Madison, Zachary Wilson, Chase Wilson, Riley Sorenson and Gauge Young.
