He was predeceased by: his father Oscar; his wife Ida Juanita Smotherman (Nash); and his siblings, Clifton Smotherman and Vera McVay. He is survived by: his children, Don Smotherman (Cynthia) of Newport, Rick Smotherman (Stacey) of Olla, Louisiana and Linda Peebles (Stan); and his grandchildren, Paula Laird (Jerry) of Jonesboro, Susan Koone (Kevin) of Cabot, Stephen Smotherman (Katerina) of Heber Springs, Sarah Peppers of Urania, Lindsey Clement (Walter) of Urania and Shelby Vascocu (Lucas) of West Monroe, Louisiana. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
