He was predeceased by: his father Jim Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Lenora Mitchell; and his children, Master Sergeant Willie G. Payton (Jacqueline), Nathaniel Mitchell (LaDora), Theodis Mitchell, Jr. (Mildred), Jessie Marie Furlow, Barbara Jenkins, Debra Mitchell and Sandra Coleman. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
