Purnell; her children, Ponhsa Bumpas, Karen Davison, Debra Broyles, Mary Purnell, Michael Purnell, Gayle McDaniel, Subrina Powe and Chris Powe; her granddaughter Sydnei Elveria Bumpas; and her siblings, James Henry Stewart, Samuel Stewart, Bettye Lee Spears, Daisy Mae Wilson and Annie Ruth Staten. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church (497 Crescent Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Her contributions to education extended beyond the classroom.
