He was predeceased by: his parents, Ortho Poe and Minnie Poe; and his children, John F. Poe, Jr. and Janice Melanie Lawler (Poe). He is survived by: his wife Karen Reel Poe; his daughters, Valerie Schlegel (Bill) and Cynthia Hughes; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey Lawler (Lindy), Justin Schlegel (Leah), Jennifer Valdez (Chris), JJ Hughes and Chris Hughes. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
