She is survived by: her husband Tom Horton of Hope; her stepdaughter Cindy Horton of Arizona; and her siblings, Florence Nicholas of California and Lionel Beenan (Terry) of California. She is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

“Our hearts go out to Joanie's husband Tom & siblings Lionel & Florencie, along with all their families in this sad loss. I'm Bobbie Kincaid Garnett, Joanie was my cousin and we enjoyed many summers together both in Baldwin Park & her homes in Watsonville - on her families apple farm, also in San Jose, and later, in Santa Cruz. Joanie was always a lot of fun & adventuresome, as well as Stevie, and later my husband Harry & I took care of Lionel & Florencie when their dad, Ray, was so very ill.”
