She was predeceased by: her parents, Geneva Gildon and Norywel Gildon (William Oran Weems, Jr.); and her siblings, James 'Solen Gildon, Louise Smith and Carolyn Clifford.

She is survived by: her children, Gary (Marianne Weems), Gina (Dan Thompson), Anthony (Dena Weems) and Willie (Lynn Weems); her grandchildren, Coleman Thompson, Kamren Scott (Jeremy), William Weems (Nicole), Clay Thompson, Blaine Weems (Jorden), Scott Weems, Jessica Brasfield (Lucas) and Holden Williams; her siblings, William "Bud" Gildon, Allen "Joey" Gildon, Jerry Gildon, Earnest "Rusty" Gildon, Michael Gildon and Charlene Williams; and her caregiver Sue Bradford. She is also survived by three great grandchildren.
