He was predeceased by: his father Central Allen; his son Clarence Cartwright; his grandparents, Ellis, Pearl Allen, Robert and Annie Johnson; his brothers-in-law, Freeman Cartwright, Sr. and Kenneth Davis; and his aunt Mae Ethel Piggee.

He is survived by: his mother Mable Allen; his children, Alishia Whitfield, Antonio Johnson, Londell Whitfield, Brandon Whitfield, Tremayne Whitfield, Quinton Whitfield, Cadarro Turner and Ekco Thomas; his siblings, Prince Ella Vanzan, Sandy Betts (Ron), Gracie Davis, Ellis Mike Allen and Willie Murray; and his aunts and uncles, Wyom Mayo, Bertha Cox, Shirley Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Earmer Cox, Jr.. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
