He is survived by: his sons, John H. Bates III (Kayla) and Morgan Lee Bates; his grandchildren, Riley Nicole, Jenden Lynn, Zaden Lee, Jaylen Ann and Haven Faith Bates; his sister Judy Bates Warren; his nieces, Abby Brown and Katy Saul; and his great-nephews, Kenner, Kolton and Ryder.
