He was predeceased by: his parents, Verner Carter and Grace Carter; his wife Carolyn Sue Dickson Carter; his siblings, Nick, Alan, Joe Carter, Marilyn Carter and Rozan McFadden; his grandson Jerry Logan Carter; and his aunt Ruth Barrett Fox.
He is survived by: his children, Sammy Whiting (Nancy) of Gillett, Arkansas and Carrie Susan Carter; his son-in-law Jon Beckwith of Hazen; his grandsons, Austin Whiting, Barrett Whiting (Fran) and Blake Beckwith (Sydney); his great grandchild Graham Logan Beckwith; and his caregivers, Ashlie Turner and Mandy James. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren.
