She was predeceased by: her parents, Ella Mae Ricks Bowen and Edward Ricks; her stepfather Dale Bowen; her brother Junior Ricks; and her former husband Trennis Raper.

She is survived by: her husband James Burks; her children, Lelia Jo Raper Zimmerman, Eddie Raper (Sandy), Scott Burks and Jerry Burks (Rachel); and her siblings, Billy Ricks and Gerri Slayton of Illinois. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
