He is survived by: his wife Candy Deakins of Hill Top; his son Will Sawyer; his daughter-in-law Crystal Dawn Deakins of Hill Top; his daughter Whitney Lea; his son-in-law T. J. Pulliam of Harrison; his grandchildren, Tead Alan Deakins of Hill Top, Cadyn Daylee Deakins of Hill Top, Emeline Bailea Pulliam of Harrison, Wyatt Walker Pulliam of Harrison and Newt James Pulliam of Harrison; his sister Donna; his brother-in-law Jimmy Fowler of Springdale; his nephew Jeff Deakins of Fairfield, Idaho; and his nieces, Beverly Bolte of Fayetteville and Betsy Horne of Springdale. He is also survived by friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children's Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.

“Candy, Sawyer, Whitney, and Family: So sorry to hear of Walker's passing. He was sincerely dedicated to the Hilltop Church and to its preservation. He would insist that the doors of the building be left unlocked as a welcome invitation and sign of trust to the community. Never allowed services to be cancelled for any reason and would be there regardless of weather conditions. Never aspiring to teach from the pulpit, he preferred to teach by an exemplary life. Elton and Kathy Roe”
