Marvin Blevins Obituary
Marvin Blevins, age 89, of Harrison, was born November 20, 1926, in White Oak, Arkansas. He was an Arkansas native where he lived and raised his family. He was a member of Harrison First Assembly of God Church. He passed away, Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in Jasper, Arkansas. He was married to his wife Bernice for 64 years. Marvin was a devout father who loved his family dearly.
Much time was spent camping and fishing. Marvin also spent a few summers loading up the family car for trips throughout the United States. He was a busy man, having 180 acres with cattle, and a huge vegetable garden in Valley Springs. Marvin drew up plans on homes without studying drafting. It was a gift he had to simply put a house on paper and then have it constructed!
Marvin said, ''I never copied off someone else because it wasn't what I wanted, so I drew it''! Another great talent of Marvin's was the ability to keep a car running and looking pristine, and he had many! Marvin also proudly served his country in the Korean War and was proud to do it. Marvin retired from Arkansas Power and Light after 33 years.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel Elizabeth and Clossie Golden Blevins, and his brother, Raymond Blevins. Marvin is survived by his wife; his daughter, Leah Blevins Herron; his son, Conrad Blevins; and his grandchildren, Neal Blevins, Rachel Herron, Hannah Herron, Miranda Blevins, Hunter Blevins and Lucas Blevins.
Surviving siblings are Mary Tarvin, Zenas Blevins (Sally Jo), Sue Lawrence (Thurl) and Sherman Blevins (Joyce).
