He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Day and Opal Day (Watson); his sisters, Clara Turner and Carol Edens; and his grandsons, Davey Day and Bradley Fitzgerald.
He is survived by: his wife Eileen; his children, Ruth (Brad Fitzgerald), Virginia, Jean (Warren Kingsley), Georgia, Joy Guffey of South Roxanna, Illinois, Stan Day of St. Charles and David Day of Harrison; and his siblings, Barbara Dorsam (Jim) of Streator, Bonnie Ague (Don) of Silvis, Illinois and Richard Day (Edna) of McAllen, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
