He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Prudence West (Dees) and W. C. West; his aunt Myrtle Cash; and his brother-in-law Jim Pate. He is survived by: his siblings, Sue Pate, Darlene Milks (Terrel), Ruth Reiss (Bill), Myrtle Randall (Dale) and Buddy West (Cathy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
