He is survived by: his wife Paula Sue Carter Gates; his children, Charlyn Hackett of Hampton, Charlie "Bubba" (Tara) of Hampton, Ashley Gates of Hampton, Annette Brown (Boomer) of Arkadelphia, Charlene Dodson (Jeff) of Camden, Teresa Gates of ElDorado and Melissa Brewer (George) of Smackover; his grandchildren, Gracie, Conner, Caleb, Kaylie, Tammy, Valerie, Tiffany, Haley, Tony Allen, Cody, Lacie, Chase, Chance and Marissa; and his sister Aline Haygood of Warren. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
