He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Alvin "Hoot" and Helen Marie Gwin Bates. He is survived by: his wife Judy Dale Martin Bates of Hamburg; his daughters, Amie Bates Kielwasser (Paul) of West Monroe and Haley Bates Birdyshaw (Kris) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his siblings, Jimmy Wayne Bates of Hamburg, Byron Dale Bates (Dianna) of Monticello and Donna Marie Watts (Kevin) of Lake Village; and his grandchildren, William Kielwasser, Helen Kielwasser, Georgie Kielwasser, Olivia Birdyshaw, Gwin Williams of Rogers and Brittney Williams of Rogers. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
