He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Edward and Abby Genoa Dawson (Howlett); and his siblings, Jerry Phillips, Wayne Dawson and Annie Ivy.
He is survived by: his wife Sharron Dawson; his sons, William'Bill' Dawson (Leslie) of Grubbs and Doug Dawson (Donna) of Weiner; his grandchildren, B. J. Dawson (Rani), Eric Dawson, Nathan Dawson (GiGi), Kegan Price (Kendall) and Megan Price; his great grandchildren, Bryce Herring, Kase Dawson, Cullen Dawson, Sutton Dawson, Brealynn Dawson, Corbin Dawson, Brynlie Dawson and Finn Dawson; and his close friend Jim Phillips. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
