He is survived by: his wife Mary "Janie" Gipson; his children, James Ray Gipson, Gary Gipson, Renee Meadows and Gaye Harrison; and his siblings, Cleave Gipson, Bill Gipson, Linda Carter, Dorotha Raye Purkey and Fannie Mae Jeremiah. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
