He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Albert Guthrie and Edna Bentley Guthrie; and his stepdaughter Patty Kennedy. He is survived by: his daughter Serina; his son-in-law Bill Hawkins of Glenwood; his stepson Tom (Nettie Kennedy) of Waxahachie, Texas; his grandchildren, Debbie Farmer (Rob), Stephen Nicolai and Jennifer Hawkins; his great grandchildren, Riley, Luke, Bambi, Dominic, Brielle, William and Matthew; his sister Gayle; his brother-in-law Steve Davis of Lynchburg, Virginia; his nephew Kevin Davis (Lisa); his niece Karen Bresach (Ryan); his great-nephews, Carson, Holt and Hudson; and his great-niece Anna Claire. He is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Wayne's memory to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Association.
