He was predeceased by: his mother Leota Slusher Flowers; and his sister Linda Bryant. He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his children, Joesph D. Walker (Alyssa) and Rachel E. Gatewood (Matthew); his grandchildren, Mason Bridges Walker and Oceana Rogers; his siblings, Larry Walker (Debbie) and Carol Jenkins (Mark); and his mother-in-law Erma Hayre.
