He was predeceased by: his father Matthew Schiefer; and his wife Lela Mae Sauer Schiefer. He is survived by: his friend Dwight Davis; his children, Michael, Christopher, Philip, Teresa Overturff and Catherine Matt; and his siblings, Bernard Schiefer, Anita Sutterfield, Bernadine Burroughs and Phyllis Flannigan. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
