He was predeceased by: his parents, David Kelso Powell and Rachel Alford Powell; his siblings, Thomas Alford Powell and Mary Powell; and his daughter Jane Maud Powell Mulvany.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Hobbs Powell; his daughter Carolyn Powell Hartley (Ken); his grandchildren, Mackenzie Powell Hartley, Kelso Wayne Hartley of Dallas, Taylor Hartley of Denver, Colorado and Robert Booth Ramsay (Jessica); his great grandchild Olive Jane Ramsay of Woodland Hills; his grandchildren, Sara Morgan Ramsay and Allison Ainsley Ramsay of San Diego, California; his daughter Annie Powell Hendricks (Andy) of Fort Smith; his grandchildren, Emma Maud Hendricks (Grant Holden), Rachel McClain Hendricks and Andrew Powell Hendricks of Fayetteville; his son David Curry (Annette) of Tavernier; his grandchild Colby Curry (Kayla); his great grandchild Emery Lane Curry; his grandchild Chesley Curry; his great grandchild Lilly Curry of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Eva Curry Izaguirre (Phil) of Fayetteville, Sky Moore (Dylan) of Islamorada and Hunter Slate of Tavernier, Florida; his children, Dwight Curry of Fort Smith and Lynn Curry Gilliland (Clay); his grandchildren, Robert David Weidman, Matthew Raynor Weidman of Fort Smith and Taylor Gilliland Butler (Aaron) of Little Rock; and his brother David William Powell of Charleston.
