She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie "Hank" Hays and Mildred Hays (Johns); and her brother Teddy Hays. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Michael Hurst; her sons, Dr. Mark Hurst (Dusti) of Van Buren, Mayor Joe Hurst (Amanda) of Van Buren and Nathan Hurst (Amber) of Van Buren; her siblings, Sarah (Kent Sweatman) of Van Buren and David Hays of Plano, Texas; and her grandchildren, Jackson, Hayden, Ethan, Ashton, Hadlee, Eli and Kate.
