He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hartgraves and Leota Ryan Hartgraves; and his siblings, Myrtle, Allen, Loretta and Shirley.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his children, Whitney Hartgraves, Joseph Hartgraves II and Anthony Jordan; his grandchildren, Alexander, Xavier Jordan and Judah Hartgraves; and his siblings, Charlie Mae Bell, Nina Gotier-Jackson, Margie E. Gotier-Grant, Charles Hartgraves, Hester Real, Esther Miller, Robert Hartgraves and Carla Caldwell.
