He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce H. Shaw and Elizabeth Smith Shaw; his siblings, Richard B. Shaw and Mary Lucinda Sangree; his wife Diane Hughes Shaw; and his grandson Spencer Collin Sikes.

He is survived by: his children, Cindy Stephens (Dennis) of Nashua, NH, Melissa Shaw Sikes of Fort Smith, AR, Michael Shaw, Jr. of Seattle, WA and Rachel Shaw Busch of Fayetteville, AR. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
